Doji

Launched in 2021, Doji is a platform which makes it easier for buyers and sellers of used tech to connect - with all products checked and verified, and all transactions managed by the platform. As well as seeking to create a great customer experience, Doji aims to have a positive environmental impact - with the re-use of tech reducing unnecessary waste, and the business partnering with OneTribe to protect a rainforest tree for every five purchases.

Goldilock

Goldilock is a cybersecurity company that manufactures a device designed to protect digital assets. The device allows users to connect and disconnect their assets to the internet at will, without needing to use the internet. In doing so, Goldilock is helping organisations keep their assets safe yet accessible - with remote access making the process easy. Since starting, Goldilock has grown to have 20 employees working globally, with a team dedicated to innovative and efficient safety solutions.

DX Compliance

DX Compliance provides financial institutions with transaction monitoring and anti-money laundering services. DX Compliance’s platform allows clients to monitor transactions and potential risks in real-time - helping protect these organisations and ensure compliance. With an experienced and dedicated team, DX Compliance has shown impressive growth recently - going from a team of eight to a team of 15 in the last two years, with plans to grow further to a team of 75 within the next two.

Genba Digital

Genba Digital is a business that works to connect the owners of digital content with sellers. Working chiefly within the video game industry, Genba has designed and built a new platform that aims to allow its retail partners to operate with speed, transparency and security. Working with more than 100 publishers and more than 300 retailers across 195 countries, Genba’s clients include major industry figures such as Bandai Namco, Capcom and Ubisoft.

Goldilock

Goldilock is a cybersecurity company that manufactures a device designed to protect digital assets without the need to connect to the internet. CTO Richard Bate runs the end-to-end team which sees software, hardware and electrical engineering working together. The team has been cited by the Ministry of Defence's DASA arm as delivering "beyond all expectations”, delivering a concept to an MVP in less than six months, two-thirds quicker and the fastest ever on DASA's Reduce Cyber Attack Surface programme.

Property and Construction Tech

CrowdProperty

Named as a WIRED Trailblazer, CrowdProperty is a profitable fintech/proptech lending innovator changing the game of property project finance. It has funded more than £610m of property projects, agreeing £330m+ of facilities and funding the development of more than 2,700 homes. CrowdProperty was selected for the latest cohort of Tech Nation’s FinTech 5.0 programme, demonstrating unprecedented technology investment in the sector and delivering innovative customer-centric solutions at a pace and scale.

EcRoFit

Funded by the European Regional Development Fund, EcRoFit is an initiative to provide technical assistance and training for businesses providing construction, installation and building services linked to energy. The EcRoFit project aims to deliver a more accurate assessment tool that is based on building simulations, multi-objective optimisation and AI. Its precision software tool, iRet, will enable businesses to identify the most effective renewable energy solutions, retrofit solutions, balancing requirements for low carbon emissions, cost and occupant comfort.

Standard Chartered Bank - Function Innovation Team (FiT)

Standard Chartered Bank’s Function Innovation Team, based out of Singapore, Malaysia and India, consists of a talented set of engineers and technologists who develop niche banking products using the latest technologies. Its ‘digital concierge’ supports day-to-day property management issues through its live Video Bot placed at the reception. Developed according to location, the avatar - which has ethnically appropriate speech and facial expressions - can help with transport and activity bookings, weather updates, shipments and more.

Innovation in Education

Mindsafe Digital Ltd

MindSafe is a digital wellbeing tool for pupils which doesn’t just change how we deliver mental wellbeing support to pupils, but also improves the resilience and mental strength of future generations. MindSafe’s platform fills the gap between current advice given to children and young people, and acting on that advice. It ensures every child has access to help 24/7, with no barriers. Working with established organisations, it is working to continue its rapid growth to help even more children.

School of Code

The School of Code is a free 16-week intensive bootcamp across England teaching programming skills from scratch. The programme is determined to help change people’s lives, giving everyone a route into technology, access to quality education and creating hyper-diverse talent. Currently recruiting for its fourteenth free bootcamp, the School of Code has helped more than 500 people so far. Not only teaching technical skills and bringing life-changing job opportunities, it improves confidence and broadens networks.

The Development Manager

The Development Manager is a tech and digital training and coaching provider, specialising in the delivery of retraining programmes, career-entry apprenticeship and degree apprenticeships. The Development Manager prioritises workplace learning journeys and offers employability services to enhance social and career mobility, positively impacting employers and supporting economies. Working as an extension of the employer, it offers upskilling and recruitment filtering services so employers get the best talent.

Young Tech Talent

Jon Bould/Goldilock

25 year old Jon Bould started at Goldilock as an intern but has been promoted to a key role of project manager due to his entrepreneurial spirit and hard work. The cybersecurity company has developed a hardware device which has been verified as unbreachable, securing the nation’s digital assets from cyber attacks. Jon’s unique lateral thinking means that he is always five steps ahead, thinking outside of the box and going above and beyond to help the company succeed.

Kiranjit Kaur Shergill

First class computer science graduate and current cyber security management student, Kiranjit Kaur Shergill has much experience despite her youth. Throughout her internships and learning, she has developed technical skills and great understanding making her a true tech talent. Chamber of Commerce committee member and STEM ambassador, Kiranjit engages with young talent to inspire them and showcase tech careers, as well as presenting discussions regarding her placements, providing CV workshops and mock interviews to help students reach their potential

Martyn Pointer

Senior cybersecurity manager, Martyn Pointer, came up with the idea of HSBC’s Fraud and Cyber Awareness app and subsequently led the development and deployment of it in 2021. With more than 25,000 downloads, he has helped to protect thousands and prevented £100,000 being lost to fraud. Martyn’s innovation has won three industry awards and secured funding to expand even further to a UK retail audience and eight other countries, with global expansion in the pipeline.

Liz Kaufman

Liz Kaufman is the head of bootcamps and lead coach at the School of Code which offers free 16-week intensive bootcamps teaching programming skills. A graduate of the school herself, Liz has worked her way up with her strong communication skills, engaging teaching and energy. Her passion for code and teaching shines through, inspiring creativity and changing lives for the better. Liz has taught more than 300 people from all walks of life to become job-ready, top tech talent.

Kavita Parmar - Word360

Kavita Parmar co-founded Word360, an interpreting and translation service provider delivering essential language support to public, private and not-for-profit organisations in 350+ languages/dialects. Kavita designed Word360’s Wordskii from scratch to enable organisations to deliver inclusive and equitable access to their services by offering on-demand telephone and video interpreting services, auto-allocation of interpreters based on requirements, and machine translation of documents. A self-motivated entrepreneur, Kavita’s innovation has delivered 750,000 interpreting sessions.

Liljia Polo-Richards - Allergy Companions Limited

Lilijia Polo-Richards has created a resource to support people with food allergies, food intolerances and coeliac disease. Allergy Companions Allergy Companies is a one-stop website for people to find, share and review places based on their dietary restrictions, offering more choice and opportunity for those often left aside. The innovation supports people who have felt excluded and isolated, whilst also allowing hospitality businesses to drive and increase traffic to their businesses by creating a loyal customer base.

Indra

Indra has designed a range of innovative EV chargers that offer more convenient, reliable, sustainable and cheaper EV charging capability. Sales increased by five times since last year, a trend set to continue into 2022 with worldwide expansion planned. Indra’s vision is to create a sustainable energy eco-system by pioneering technology and products that integrate vehicles with the home, destinations and the grid. It is currently on path to deliver revolutionary bidirectional vehicle-to-everything charging to market.

Intercity Technology

Intercity has grown significantly over the last 35 years, helping businesses leverage the power of technology, cloud and security, communications and managed IT services. As one of the first companies to go into mobile communications, Intercity has since continued a legacy of innovation by regularly introducing new technology solutions. With a growing team, the technology partner takes on a ‘do more’ attitude which ensures an enriched customer experience and is the basis for its continued success.

Redbrain Limited

Redbrain is a strategic online shopping partner providing performance marketing services.. A key component to its growth is that it can offer retail partners a risk-free route to market through its unique cost-per-acquisition model. More than 10,000 brands now use Redbrain to optimise and scale their e-commerce paid media spend, with it ranked as Google’s number one shopping and premium CSS solution provider, generating 1.9m clicks and 100m impressions daily.

Flume is a female-founded independent market research agency providing services to help make brands easier to think of, buy and use. At the heart of many of its market research offerings are Flume’s online communities which allow consumers to actively share their views and interests. This then provides useful insights for qualitative and quantitative research by Flume which means businesses can make decisions relevant to their customers and which will make an impact.

Standard Chartered Bank - Functions Innovation Team (FiT)

Standard Chartered Bank’s Function Innovation Team, based out of Singapore, Malaysia and India, consists of a talented set of engineers and technologists who develop niche banking products using the latest technologies. The innovation team has transformed the way that HR teams can reward staff, replacing physical assets with digital items. This is achieved with ERC-721 NFT on Blockchain which shows a message appreciating staff.

Its digital distribution platform has set the standard in transparency, speed and security in the global video games industry to see it become one of the FT1000 Fastest Growing Companies in Europe in 20/21. Plus, its Silent Key Activation technology innovation has transformed the way digital product keys are sold.

PM Connect

Global mobile payments and digital marketing specialist, PM Connect’s mission is to make in-demand content accessible to all. It matches its suite of brands alongside its core direct carrier billing mobile payment solution so that mobile users can instantly access content via their phone bill or using credit. PM Connect now processes more than 50m transactions each month across all markets, with a reach of more than 300m customers in more than 20 territories worldwide.

Tech Collaboration

Aspire Active Education Group and miMove

Aspire Active Education Group has partnered with innovative app edtech firm miMove to help young people across the West Midlands benefit from a more positive relationship with physical activity. They have worked with schools in the Birmingham area to encourage young people to get moving regularly, building upon their respective links to make a big impact. Schools receive live data on their students’ physical activity, as well as receiving student comments and reflections to enable further support.

Goldilock & University of Wolverhampton

Goldilock is a cybersecurity company that manufactures a device designed to protect digital assets. It recently relocated into the University of Wolverhampton’s Science Park to collaborate with the West Midlands CyberQuarter and Professor Prashant Pillai of the University of Wolverhampton to provide cybersecurity to West Midlands factories. It leverages the award-winning CyberQuarter's innovation team and research resources with Goldilock's patented technology that can provide unreachable security. The collaboration promotes diversity, inclusion and employment prospects for the tech sector.

University of Birmingham

The University of Birmingham is working to provide innovative skills solutions and improve social mobility to combat the growing digital skills gap. Birmingham Digital Futures is an initiative started by the UoB, PwC and charity Tech She Can. The unique, accessible and free offering for schools aims to inspire and support young people to improve their digital skills and highlight the breadth of tech careers available, having reached more than 10,000 children nationally in 2022.
